Tuatara go back-to-back with win over Whai

The Auckland Tuatara recorded their second successive win in the Sal’s NBL with a start to finish 92-72 win over the Whai in Mt Maunganui.

It helps the team improve to 2-1 on the season and was the second win in 48 hours after Aaron Young’s side beat the Taranaki Airs at Eventfinda Stadium on Thursday night.

Tall Blacks skipper Reuben Te Rangi paced the Tuatara offense with 23 points to go with three rebounds while Rob Loe double doubled with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Corey Webster had 22 points, four rebounds and four assists in a strong showing.

Reuben Fitzgerald impressed off the bench for the Tuatara, as he contributed 10 points on the back of a couple of nice moves.

Earlier the Tuatara kept their unbeaten streak alive in the Sky Broadband Rapid League, beating the Whai 30-24 after trailing through the first half.

The Tuatara and Nelson Giants top the standings with perfect 3-0 records.
