Tuatara launch Wucha Cup competition

The Jadcup Tuatara and Wucha are delighted to confirm the inaugural Wucha Cup where four U15 teams across Auckland will take part in games on the Eventfinda Stadium show court ahead of Rapid League and Sal’s NBL fixtures.

The tournament begins on Saturday, coinciding with the Wucha Game Night when the Tauranga Whai visit Auckland.

It will see a triple-header of basketball action with the opening game of the Wucha Cup between North Shore Xinui facing East Hi 5, starting at 5pm.

This is followed by the Rapid League game between the Whai and Jadcup Tuatara at 6.30pm and then the Sal’s NBL contest from 7.30pm.

Wucha Cup games will take place on six of the remaining Jadcup Tuatara home games with the final being staged on the franchise’s last round robin game of the season on Sunday 26 July. It features four teams from across Auckland – North Shore Xinui, East Hi 5, Pinay Mavs (Central) and SAB (South).

The Wucha Cup has been created to give young Auckland basketball players the opportunity to experience playing in a professional basketball environment.

The goal of this event is not only competition, but also to help connect young players and families with the excitement, atmosphere, and inspiration of professional basketball. By hosting games before Rapid League and NBL matches, we hope to create a memorable experience for all participating teams.

Saturday’s game night will be a big occasion with Wucha presenting the game for the third year. It will feature a traditional lion dance performance, gelato and bubble tea giveaways, a Wucha drink challenge, a Chinese Martial Arts performance as well as interactive games and giveaways.

Doors open at 4.45pm.
