Webster driven to win at home

Tuatara guard Corey Webster has done just about everything in his glittering career but there is one last milestone he is hoping to tick off this week.

Webster has won multiple Sal’s NBL crowns, he is a two-time league MVP and one of the country’s greatest ever basketballers but the one thing that has eluded him so far is winning a title on an Auckland team and that is something he hopes to change in the coming days.

Webster linked with the Tuatara for the 2024 season and has enjoyed an outstanding season playing for his hometown team on the court he learned his craft on.

“You can’t beat it – I have been playing at home at North Shore Events Centre [Eventfinda Stadium] on the court I grew up on for as long as I can remember,” Webster said ahead of Wednesday’s semi-final against the Franklin Bulls.

“Being back in the semi-finals for my home team on my home stadium is pretty awesome.”

The Tuatara will host the Bulls in a sudden death semi-final, tipping off at 8pm on Wednesday with the winner advancing to play the defending champion Canterbury Rams in Christchurch on Sunday.

The Tuatara have made it to the Grand Final the past two seasons and would desperately love to go one better in 2024.
