Auckland Tuatara young guns Tom Beattie and Charlie Dalton have capped a brilliant week for the pair by helping their Harbour Basketball team win the Basketball New Zealand U20 National Championships in Rangiora.
The two rising stars were instrumental in helping their Harbour side overcome Taranaki in the tournament final on Monday.
Dalton scored 25 points and pulled in 10 rebounds while Beattie led all scorers with 28 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Dalton returned to Auckland on Saturday night to start for the Tuatara in their win over the Manawatu Jets and was a key figure scoring 14 points and grabbing six rebounds.
He then jumped on an early morning flight to link up with the Harbour side, which included former Tuatara big man Tautoko Wynyard.
All three youngsters were named to the tournament team while Dalton was named as MVP.
Beattie earlier this week announced he had committed to the University of Hawaii and will head there once the Sal’s NBL finishes in July.
The two teenagers have been terrific servants for the Tuatara over the past two seasons will leave a big hole for the club to fill next season.
Impressive fellow teenager Will Leger participated in the tournament as well, helping the Auckland side make it to the quarter-finals.
All three players will be available for selection for Sunday’s huge clash against the in-form Franklin Bulls at Eventfinda Stadium.
