Tuatara ink import swingman Buay Tuach

Ethiopian American Buay Tuach has signed on with the Auckland Tuatara for the 2025 Sal’s NBL season and will join a star-studded cast.

Tuach was born in Ethiopia before moving to the United States where he attended school in Omaha, Nebraska and played college basketball for Loyola Marymount.

The swingman has played in Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia and Greece as well as a stint in the NBA G-League.

Tuatara coach Cam Gliddon thinks Tuach has a very high ceiling.

“I have seen him play before and was really impressed with what he can do,” Gliddon said. “I have no doubt he can be a star of the Sal’s NBL and will really bring plenty to our roster.

“He is an explosive played that will produce plenty of highlight reel plays and I can see him becoming a fan favourite at Eventfinda Stadium very quickly.”

Tuach joins a Tuatara roster that includes former League MVPs Rob Loe and Tom Vodanovich, talented Australian guard Will “Davo” Hickey, Tall Black Dan Fotu, American import Charles Pride as well as local talent like Dylan Wilkie and Josh Wyllie.
