Dan Fotu comes back to join Tuatara

North Shore local Dan Fotu has returned to the Auckland Tuatara for the 2025 Sal’s NBL season after spending the past couple of seasons elsewhere.

The 6’7 Tall Blacks representative signed his first professional contract with the Tuatara in their inaugural season of 2022 and played a couple of games after returning to New Zealand from college. Unfortunately, an injury ruled him out for the majority of the season.

Fotu went on to have seasons with the Franklin Bulls (2023) and Nelson Giants (2024) and is currently playing professionally in Japan.

He has inked a deal to return to his hometown team in 2024 and will link up with the side once his commitments in Japan have finished.

“Dan is a great player that has established himself as one of the leading Kiwi players in the competition,” said Tuatara coach Cam Gliddon.

“I have worked with him during my time at the Breakers and I know what a talent he is.

“It is great to be able to bring him home and I know he is really looking forward to representing his hometown team again.”

Fotu joins a roster that includes former League MVPs Rob Loe and Tom Vodanovich.

More signings will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
