Youngster Lepou signs on with Tuatara

Promising young basketballer Kaino Lepou has signed to play with the Auckland Tuatara when they make their debut in the Sal’s NBL later this week.

A versatile and smart forward, Lepou could have a utility role with the Tuatara this year.

He is yet another talented basketballer to come out of renowned North Shore school Rosmini College, following in the footsteps of Tom Beattie and Charlie Dalton.

“Kainoa is a very high IQ player – he knows how to make an impact on both ends of the floor,” Tuatara head coach Aaron Young said.

“I’m excited for him to have a significant leadership role with us this season and lead by example, doing all the right things on and off the court.

“What I’ve been most impressed with is his team-first mindset. He’s willing to sacrifice and do whatever is necessary to help the team have success.”

Lepou is part of a talented group of youngsters playing for the Tuatara this season – joining the likes of Dan Fotu, Dontae Russo-Nance, Braydon Iuli, Beattie and Dalton.

The Auckland Tuatara open their 2022 Sal’s NBL debut with a home game against the Taranaki Mountainairs at Eventfinda Stadium on Saturday night.
