Young Tuatara perform at Westside Blitz

The young Auckland Tuatara outfit will take plenty away from their three-game Westside Blitz experience after impressing the coaching staff.

The Tuatara played games against the Nelson Giants, Wellington Saints (both in Westport) and Taranaki Airs (in Greymouth) but lost all three.

While the results were not important, coaches Sonny Tuaputa and Josiah Maama were pleased with the way the side went overall and were particularly happy with what they saw from a number of players.

Guard Tukaha Cooper was strong in all three games while fellow guard Reuben Fitzgerald showcased his leadership and ability to contribute against quality opposition.

Will Leger was one to really impress, playing big minutes in all three games, while brother Josh showed how effective he can be over the tournament as well.

Impressive 16-year-old Jackson Kiss produced some highlight reel plays and did his chances of selection no harm with some eye-catching performances.

The Tuatara begin their 2024 Sal’s NBL season with an away game against the Saints in Wellington on Sunday March 31.
