Will Leger joins Auckland Tuatara

The Auckland Tuatara have signed impressive youngster Will Leger to an amateur contract for the upcoming Sal’s NBL season.

Leger finished high school in 2022 having attended Mt Albert Grammar School in Auckland.

Having grown up in Pukekohe, Leger played a lot of his formative years with the Franklin Basketball Association and is the brother of ex-Bulls and now Manawatu Jets player Josh Leger.

He comes from a very talented sporting family and has impressed coach Aaron Young through the pre-season.

“Will is a real talent that is for sure,” Young said. “He’s a humble young man with a big future in the game and I look forward to seeing what he is capable of this season.

“Congratulations on reaching this level Will and enjoy the experience.”

Leger has enrolled at Auckland University of Technology and will work towards a degree in sports science.

He is the third player signed to an amateur contract – joining returning players Tom Beattie and Charlie Dalton – as well as fully contracted professionals Rob Loe, Rueben Te Rangi, Cam Gliddon, Jarrad Weeks, Nick Barrow, Chris McIntosh, Thomas Whyte and Conor Flanagan.

Memberships to all nine home games at Eventfinda Stadium are available now.

The season begins on April 8 with a road game in Nelson against the Giants.
