The Auckland Tuatara 3X3 side have finished a credible fifth at the Schick Cup tournament at ILT Stadium in Invercargill after beating the Whai from Tauranga in their final game.
Captain Chris McIntosh was lethal from long range and provided the majority of the side’s offense in the last game, but he was ably supported by Reuben Fitzgerald, Tom Beattie and Liam Judd in a terrific all-round performance.
All four players enjoyed strong performances across the tournament, with schoolboy Beattie in particular announcing himself as a star in the making.
Earlier in the day the Tuatara lost their quarter-final narrowly to eventual runners-up Canterbury Rams but were able to bounce back in their two consolation games against Northland and the Whai to earn a fifth-place finish.
