The Auckland Tuatara have signed their first amateur player for the 2024 Sal’s NBL season with North Harbour youngster Aaron Sievert signing with the club.
Northcote College product Sievert trained with the Tuatara on their run to the 2023 Sal’s NBL grand final and earns a full-time contract with the franchise for 2024.
Sievert had been set to represent the club at the 3×3 Cup in October before an injury at training ruled him out a week from the tournament starting.
A lightning-fast guard, Sievert looks ideally suited to Sky Broadband Rapid League, which makes its debut in 2024.
“Aaron is a dedicated and talented local kid that has worked hard to get this opportunity,” Auckland Tuatara head coach Aaron Young said.
“He has plenty of upside and I think he can make a real impact with us this season. “We look forward to giving him a chance to showcase his skills.”
He joins a roster that includes Rob Loe, Cam Gliddon, Tom Vodanovich, Chris McIntosh, Nick Barrow, Reuben Fitzgerald and Tukaha Cooper.
