Highly respected championship-winning guard Jarrad Weeks has agreed to terms and will play with the Auckland Tuatara in the 2023 Sal’s NBL competition.

Weeks finished another strong season in the Australian league with the Tasmania JackJumpers, where he helped his side to the playoffs.

The 33-year-old Australian is no stranger to New Zealand having previously played with the Breakers in the Australian NBL as well as enjoying a title-winning stay with the Southland Sharks in 2017-18.

Regarded as a consummate professional, a smart baller and a great defender, the veteran guard looms as a key piece for coach Aaron Young this season.

“Jarrad is a great player and will be the perfect fit for us this year given that he has played with Reuben [Te Rangi] and Cam [Gliddon] before,” Young explained.

“He epitomises the complete package on and off the court and will help drive high standards within our group.

“I am very excited about the group we have assembled this season and Weeksy is a key part of that.”

Weeks was delighted to come back to Auckland and link up with friends where he hopes to win a championship.

“I am very excited to be a leader in this team,” Weeks said. “Having played with a lot of the guys before and worked with Aaron previously I am thrilled to get over to Auckland and start the season.

“I have heard great things about the people involved in the program and can’t wait to get started on the journey towards winning a championship for the club”

The Tuatara open their 2023 Sal’s NBL campaign with a road trip to Nelson to face the Giants on April 8.

Memberships to all nine home games at Eventfinda Stadium are available now.
