Auckland Tuatara Basketball skipper Rob Loe has signed on to play another season for the club and will aim to take them one better than their debut 2022 season.

Loe and the Tuatara made a run to the Grand Final of the Sal’s NBL in 2022 before going down narrowly to the Otago Nuggets.

Having enjoyed his time with the club and being determined to win the title in 2023, Loe had little hesitation signing on again.

“I absolutely loved my time with the Tuatara – coach Aaron Young and the front office created a really great culture, and it was a really enjoyable experience,” Loe said.

“We played some great basketball to get to the Grand Final but we came up just short of our goal of winning it all.

“It is fair to say we are very motivated to try and go one better this season and I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Loe has been one of the sport’s leading figures over the past decade plus – a regular in the Tall Blacks and the New Zealand Breakers, where he is currently helping the Auckland franchise chase a playoff spot in the Australian Basketball League.

The 31-year-old 6’11 centre had the honour of being the Auckland Tuatara’s first ever signing when they entered the league a year ago and he is once again the first player confirmed on the 2023 roster.

More signings are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Memberships to all nine home games at Eventfinda Stadium are available now.
