Josh Leger links with Auckland Tuatara

Josh Leger will give the Auckland Tuatara some additional size after agreeing to play for the club in the 2024 Sal’s NBL.

The former Mt Albert Grammar product played for the Tuatara at the 3×3 Cup in late 2023 and joins the roster after impressing with his work in trainings held by assistant coaches Sonny Tuaputa and Josiah Maama over the past few weeks.

He has previously played for Nelson, Franklin and more recently Manawatu.

With a job in Auckland, Leger was keen to play locally and becomes a terrific option in the front court for coach Aaron Young.

“We’ve been really impressed with Josh’s play and his approach at training,” Young said.

“He is a talented player and is understanding exactly how he can be a really important piece for us this season.

“He has worked extremely hard and deserves this opportunity.

“I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him during his time in the League so far and I am really looking forward to seeing him reach his potential.”

Younger brother Will played with the Tuatara last year and is likely to secure a contract again this season.

Leger joins a Tuatara roster that includes Rob Loe, Tom Vodanovich, Cam Gliddon, Reuben Te Rangi, Corey Webster, Chris McIntosh, Nick Barrow, Reuben Fitzgerald, Tukaha Cooper and Aaron Sievert.
