North Harbour local and Rosmini College product Jameer Reed has signed to play for the Auckland Tuatara in the 2024 Sal’s NBL.
The 6’5 small forward has trained with the Tuatara over the off-season and been rewarded for his efforts with a contract for the season.
Reed hails from a basketball family with both Maori and African American heritage and his sister is currently playing professionally in Australia.
The 16-year-old has enormous upside having already represented New Zealand having helped the national U16 side qualify for the World Championships later this year and is someone that the club has identified as a future star.
“Jameer has worked really hard and been very impressive during our summer training sessions,” assistant coach Sonny Tuaputa said.
“He has great IQ on both ends of the floor and is great in transition and has a good natural feel to his game.
“We know he is going to be a very good player for us moving forward and we look forward to helping him develop further.”
The Auckland Tuatara begin their 2024 Sal’s NBL campaign against the Wellington Saints in Wellington on March 31.
