One of the big success stories to come out of the Auckland Tuatara’s two-game road trip in the South Island over the weekend was the break-out performance by young guard Braydon Iuli.
The teenager had a profound impact on Sunday’s win over the Rams in particular as he went off for 13 points off the bench, including some key baskets while the game was on the line.
It was something that delighted coach Aaron Young.
“Huge moments – we acknowledged that after the game as a group,” Young said of Iuli’s performance in the second half.
“Braydon has fitted in really well and he was terrific for us. He really stepped up and it was very pleasing to see.”
He will get some more help and someone to gain experience playing alongside with import point guard Siler Schneider arriving this week from Denmark.
The Tuatara are back in action next Monday against the Wellington Saints in the Capital.
