Gliddon leads Tuatara to Moutai Cup win

Incoming Auckland Tuatara coach Cam Gliddon hit a half-court shot to lead the Tuatara to a thrilling win over Team Boucher in the Moutai Charity Cup game at Eventfinda Stadium on Sunday.

In front of a packed crowd, the two sides put on a great exhibition of basketball, with plenty of highlight reel plays while the likes of retired stars Dillon Boucher, Casey Frank and Hayden Allen rolling back the years as they showcased their sublime skills once again.

Corey Webster and former Giants, Bulls and Airs big man Anzac Rissetto were terrific for the Tuatara side – Webster hitting shot after shot from range and Rissetto dominating the paint.

After a period of overtime, the teams still couldn’t be separated and so a half court shoot-out was used to determine the winner.

Gliddon was successful with the Tuatara’s second shot and ensured his side lifted the trophy.

The crowd were treated to a hilarious moment when Gliddon and referee Ryan Jones got into a light-hearted exchange which saw Jones hand Gliddon the whistle as he went and grabbed a Tuatara playing singlet for the final couple of minutes of the third quarter.

He managed to hit a shot and was hammered as he drove to the basket, much to the amazement of onlookers.

The game was played in great spirit and puts a successful lid on the 2024 season.
