Reuben Te Rangi and the Tall Blacks have edged Jordan 95-87 in overtime at the FIBA World Cup in the Philippines.
Te Rangi’s side moves to 1-1 on the tournament and can advance to the next round if they beat Greece on Thursday morning NZT.
The Tall Blacks led throughout Monday’s contest but were chased down in the dying stages as former NBA star Rondae Hollis-Jefferson hit a clutch three-pointer and was fouled in the process, sending the ex-Brooklyn Nets star to the free throw line to tie the game up.
Pero Cameron’s side held their nerve in the five minutes of extra time, to secure victory and keep alive their chances of progressing.
A win over Greece will be enough to put New Zealand into the round of 16.
