Budding young star Charlie Dalton has been rewarded for a superb Sal’s NBL season by being nominated for both the Best Young Player and the Most Improved Player awards.
The 18-year-old has held onto a starting role all season with the league-leading Auckland Tuatara and has developed into one of coach Aaron Young’s key weapons ahead of the Sal’s NBL Final 6.
He’s also been the heart and soul of the team, providing a leadership and cultural heartbeat of an experienced playing group despite his young age.
Dalton joins Robbie Coman (Otago Nuggets), Walter Brown (Canterbury Rams) and Alex McNaught (Nelson Giants) in being nominated for the Best Young Player this season.
Dalton is also one of four nominated in the Most Improved Player category, joining Manawatu’s Liam Judd, Nelson’s McNaught and Canterbury’s Brown on the shortlist.
The award winners are announced next Wednesday.
