The Auckland Tuatara have won two of their three games on the opening day of the Schick Cup 3X3 competition in Invercargill on Wednesday.
The four-strong team of captain Chris McIntosh, Reuben Fitzgerald, Tom Beattie and Liam Judd impressed in two comfortable wins over Waikato University and the Franklin Bulls.
They lost to a very strong Hawke’s Bay Hawks side in the middle contest of the day.
McIntosh, a renowned 3X3 player was strong in all games while Beattie shot incredibly well from beyond the arc against the Bulls.
All four players contributed strongly, and McIntosh was pleased with his side’s efforts on the opening day.
“We served out what we got in the last game,” McIntosh said in reference to a terrific two-point shooting performance against the Bulls that followed being on the wrong end of the Hawks doing the same to the Tuatara.
“It’s crazy how quick a game can go if you’re making shots.”
The Tuatara play three more round robin games on Thursday – against the Sal’s NBL champion Otago Nuggets at 12.25pm on Court 1 before games against the Wellington Saints (1.45pm on Court 1) and the Whai from Tauranga (6.25pm on Court 2).
All games are live on Sky Sport.
